I legit wrote up a whole thing about dwarf beards and the different types of braids (they have three distinct genders and some smaller variations of non-trinary genders that are less common but still recognized) and how the braids indicate like a whole host of things beyond gender including marital status, preferences of partner, and whether or not they wish to raise children with a potential mate, and it was awesome but then something happened and i lost it and i will be forever sad.

Conversely, elves did not know what A Gender fucking was until they met humans.  They only have one pronoun, and it causes a lot of confusion to outsiders.  This is why it’s hard to tell the difference between male and female elves - they don’t give a shit about separating the two.

This is so so cool. I love elves just, , not knowing what a gender is.

I’ve seen in fanfics a lot of places where “only female elves are allowed to bake lembas”, or “only male elves are allowed to do this” or capable of doing this, but I remember seeing a quote when I was reading through HoME, I dont remember where but I’ll see if I can find it again, unless anybody else knows where it is. But there was a quote that basically boiled down to “among elves there is not a single activity that is exclusive to one gender”. Literally any given activity that one gender does is fully accessable and often done by the other.

Female warriors exist of course. Males can bake as much lembas as they want to. Queens can be the high authority, we’ve seen it first hand. Its not a patriarchy or matriarchy. Its the elf with the most merit who makes the claim. A male dry nurse? Why not. The clothing you wear? Based on taste, comfort, and practicality. Not gender. The job you do? Based on skill and interest. Sexism and gender stereotypes are practically nonexistent among elves.

So this is a problem. For those that don’t know, this November MA is putting a question up on whether the transgender nondiscrimination law that was passed in 2016 should be repealed.

If this law gets repealed, transgender residents will face discrimination in public places and will have to by law use the restroom based on their assigned sex at birth, not what they identify as.

For those in other states who might be thinking “Oh, this won’t affect me at all!”

It will.

If this law gets repealed, the opponents (the people who approve of the repeal) will try to eliminate transgender protection laws across the United States.

Keep in mind, this article was at the back of the Pride magazine I picked up at a movie theater. Not many people I’ve talked to seem to know that this is going to happen.
